Animal Service Center of Mesilla Valley: A Haven for Pets

About the Animal Service Center

The Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV) is the only open-admission municipal animal shelter in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. Its mission is to provide shelter, veterinary care, adoption services, and community outreach programs for stray, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats.

Services Offered

The ASCMV offers a range of services to the community, including:

  • Animal intake and sheltering
  • Spaying and neutering
  • Vaccinations
  • Microchipping
  • Adoption and foster care
  • Community outreach and education

Spayed/Neutered Pets

Animals with a special sticker have already been spayed or neutered and are available for adoption at a reduced fee. This program helps control the population of stray and unwanted animals in the community.

Ways to Help

There are many ways you can help the animals at the ASCMV:

Volunteering

Volunteers play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the shelter. They assist with tasks such as cleaning, feeding, walking dogs, and socializing cats.

Adoption

Adopting a pet from the ASCMV gives a deserving animal a second chance at a happy life. The shelter has a wide variety of dogs and cats available for adoption.

Foster Care

Foster homes provide temporary care for animals who need a break from the shelter environment, such as puppies, kittens, or animals recovering from surgery.

Donations

Financial donations help the ASCMV provide essential care for the animals in their shelter. You can donate online or by mail.

Conclusion

The Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley is a valuable resource for the community. By supporting the shelter through volunteering, adoption, fostering, or donations, you can make a real difference in the lives of homeless animals.
