Singapore Airlines has been involved in several air safety incidents throughout its history. The most fatal of these occurred on October 31, 2000, when Singapore Airlines Flight 006 crashed shortly after takeoff from Taipei Songshan Airport. All 83 passengers and crew members on board were killed.

Boeing 747-400 Incident

In 2001, a Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-400 encountered a series of mistakes by the flight crew, resulting in the loss of the aircraft and the lives of 83 passengers and crew. This incident was the subject of extensive investigations and led to changes in the airline's operational procedures.

Mid-Air Incident in 2019

On November 14, 2019, a Singapore Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence, resulting in the death of one passenger and injuries to 71 others. The aircraft was a Singapore-bound Boeing 777-300ER and diverted to Bangkok following the incident. Passenger accounts described scenes of absolute terror during the mid-air incident.

Safety Record

Despite these incidents, Singapore Airlines has a strong safety record overall. The airline has implemented strict safety protocols and has received numerous awards for its safety performance. Singapore Airlines is consistently ranked among the safest airlines in the world.
