The Democratic Party is now poised to formally select its presidential nominee. President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic candidate, withdrew from the race on July 21, 2024. As of July 22, two contenders had officially announced their candidacies: Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden.
Vice President Harris declared her intention to pursue the Democratic nomination after President Biden stepped aside and threw his support behind her. This endorsement positions Harris as a formidable frontrunner in the upcoming race.
On Tuesday, NBC News projected that President Joe Biden had amassed enough support to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. This victory signifies a major milestone in the party's primary process.
