Horrifying footage captures the terrifying moment a cyclist was shoved off his bike by a van passenger in a 'despicable' random attack.

The shocking incident happened on the A46 in Nottinghamshire on Monday, August 8, as Matthew Simpson was cycling along the busy road.

The yob, who was travelling as a passenger in a white van, leaned out of the window and deliberately extended his arm to shove Matthew.

Matthew, 49, fell from his bike and onto the road, sustaining minor injuries.

The van then sped off, leaving Matthew shocked and shaken by the side of the road.

Nottinghamshire Police have released the footage in a bid to catch the culprit.

Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was a despicable attack on a lone cyclist, who was simply minding his own business."

"The cyclist was left shocked and shaken by the incident, and sustained minor injuries."

"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have any information about the van or the occupants, to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 440 of August 8, 2022.
