A look back at the 2015/16 season for Bayer Leverkusen

After a period of success, Bayer Leverkusen started the 2015/16 season with plenty of optimism. The departure of club legend Simon Rolfes in the summer meant that a new era was set to begin at the BayArena. Under the guidance of new head coach Roger Schmidt, Leverkusen looked to build upon their recent success and challenge for major honors.

The season started well for Leverkusen, as they won their first four Bundesliga games. However, a difficult period followed, in which they lost four of their next five matches. Leverkusen’s form improved in the second half of the season, and they eventually finished third in the Bundesliga, claiming a Champions League spot. In the Champions League, Leverkusen reached the last 16, where they were eventually eliminated by Manchester City after a hard-fought 1-0 defeat.

Despite the disappointment of not winning any major trophies, the 2015/16 season will be remembered as a successful one for Bayer Leverkusen. The team played with great spirit and determination, and they showed that they have the potential to challenge for the big prizes in the future.
